Well, we’re in a pretty familiar spot aren’t we. It’s late May, the Knicks are in the lottery and they didn’t end up with a top three pick: meaning that there’s not a consensus “sure pick” on their radar. Add the perceived weakness of this year’s draft class, and we’ve got the potential for a pretty riotous draft night at Madison Square Garden.

Now, while we don’t cover the Knicks a lot here at the Queens Ledger/Brooklyn Star, we felt it was our duty to run down the top faces the Knicks should target.

Let’s get started!

Stephen Curry

Shooting Guard, Davidson,

Junior, 6-3, 185lbs

Curry is a shooter in the same vein as Reggie Miller and Allan Houston. Seriously, the kid can just plain shoot, which makes him a great fit for Mike D’Antoni’s system. At 6-3, Curry would have to play point guard, making matters murky for fan favorite Nate Robinson.

Likelihood of pick: 65%

DeMar DeRozan

Shooting Guard, USC, Freshman, 6-6, 200lbs

DeRozan, this year’s one-year-wonder at USC, is has the tools to be a great NBA shooting guard: explosive speed, incredible jumping speed, and a killer mid-range jumper. His lack of experience hurt the Trojans early, but he came on towards the end of the season. If he’s still available for the Knicks at 8, he could be a superstar.

Likelihoood of pick: 9%

Ty Lawson

Point Guard, North Carolina,

Junior, 6-0, 195lbs

Lawson was a catalyst on t the UNC championship team, and his speed and jumpshot would be a great fit in the Knicks’s offense. However body size and strength are such big concerns that he may fall out of lottery.

Liklihood of pick: 11%

Tyreke Evans

Shooting Guard, Memphis,

Freshman, 6-6, 219lbs

Evans is more athletic than Curry, and as such, is a better slasher/finisher, but he can be a tad lazy on the defensive end at times, a problem the Knicks are only too familiar with (hello Jamal Crawford, I’m looking at you!)
