I am writing to introduce the Ukrainian Sports Club NY (YCK)  as we have recently moved to 663 Manhattan Ave, just blocks away from the NY Ukrainians soccer teams’ home field at McCarren Park, on April 23, 2021.

Ukrainian Sports Club NY (YCK) is an amateur soccer club based in NYC, established in 1947 with a long and illustrious history. Currently playing in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League, the adult league has their home games at McCarren Park in Brooklyn and travels all over the tri-state area. Ukrainian Sports Club has expanded its formidable force to include a youth league for soccer and volleyball which commenced in the fall of 2019. It's overarching goal is to provide athletics as a vehicle to the humanities and to share the things that we love.

Presently, the YCK Corporation is divided into two boards; the Ukrainian American Soccer Association, Inc. (UASA) which is the custodial or business board, and the New York Ukrainian Sports Club, Inc. (YCK) board which provides sports programs for the community.

The Ukrainian American Soccer Association Inc and the Ukrainian Sports Club (YCK) is starting a new chapter in its history. After almost fifty years, YCK sold its building in Manhattan located on 2nd Avenue between 7th and 8th street. Some money was invested and the rest was negotiated to buy a building at 663 Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint Brooklyn. Currently, the building is being totally renovated and will be functional in the spring. One of our favorite parts about our new home is that our athletes will have a great space in the basement to utilize as a locker room before and after games.  But most of all, we would like to be a function of not only the Ukrainian community, but to the Brooklyn community as well.

YCK provides a variety of sports programs for all ages. Presently, YCK has three men’s senior soccer teams (NY Ukrainians, NY Ukrainians Reserve, NY Ukrainians III) directed by Steve Kovalenko. Practices and home games take place at McCarren Park in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Practices take place Tuesdays and Thursdays, with games on weekends.  The reserve team won the championship this year; they were undefeated with 9 wins and one tie, and the first team was competitive. The third team was just created a month ago! Furthermore, our youth sports clinic, directed and coached by Bohdan Pryjmak, has coordinated with the Ukrainian American Youth Association (CYM) and the Ukrainian Youth Scouting Organization (PLAST)  in the sports of soccer and volleyball. Bohdan is also planning an exciting program of chess and ping-pong this fall. The soccer and volleyball youth programs take place in Saint George Academy in Manhattan on Saturdays as well as the East River Park. The youth sports program was created to build a future for YCK. Additionally, Bohdan Pryjmak plans on organizing an International Ukrainian Ice Hockey tournament in Brooklyn in spring of 2022. Furthermore, there have been discussions on starting a senior women’s soccer team, a junior boys’ soccer team, and other youth soccer teams. We sincerely hope our programs will spark interest in all of you.

As a result, YCK is looking to become a vital part of not only the Ukrainian community but to the Greenpoint Brooklyn community as well. Our present motto is: “Let’s Rebuild YCK Together.” If anyone would like to be a part of our sports programs or want to make a positive contribution, contact us. Senior players are always welcome to try-out (contact Steve Kovalenko), and for further information about our youth programs please contact Bohdan Pryjmak. We welcome new members of our organization if you can provide an active and valuable contribution to help the club thrive for years to come. Players and families can be members, one can help drive players to games and practices, assist in games/practices, coach, assist with team and equipment management, and fundraising. Membership applications are available upon request from the club's president, Willie Zinkewitsch, and will be reviewed by the Board of Directors prior to approval.

We look forward to getting to know you, Greenpoint!  You can view the progress of our renovations and see updates about our sports programs on our social media platforms.  We sincerely look forward to having you visit us soon!

Thank you in advance for your support.
