In a proclamation presented during the event, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz called the 32-year-old Bushwick native “a true daughter of Brooklyn” and congratulated Joshua on her many achievements and for her work on a film heralded as “a significant historical record of tougher times.”
The 38-minute film - which received the award for "Best USA Documentary" at the UK's 2008 Swansea Life Film Festival - was also presented on Black Entertainment Television’s “Black Stories Marathon,” the African-American Women In Cinema Film Festival, and screened in several local and national film festivals.
The DVD edition, now on sale through the film’s website, has been re-edited and features additional footage and a director’s commentary.
