Levin to rally for more funding for hungry New Yorkers

Councilman Stephen Levin will join other members of the New York City Council on Wednesday at City Hall to urge the mayor to fully fund the Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP).

The program serves more than 1.4 million hungry New Yorkers at food pantries and food kitchens every year.

The current executive budget drastically underfunds EFAP. It proposed cutting its funding by $4.9 million.

Levin, chair of the Council’s General Welfare Committee,, has signed on to support the increase of EFAP to $22 million.

The rally will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. on the steps of City Hall.
